Life is not just about work, but work can bring deeper meaning to life. At Connect Perfusion, our perfusionists thrive in their roles due to the flexibility in their schedules and the rewarding challenges each case brings.

Our team is a family, united by a shared commitment to saving lives and supporting one another. From seasoned professionals to new team members, everyone brings something unique to the table.

We’re proud to share the stories of just a few of our perfusionists who are passionate about their careers and the people they work with at Connect Perfusion!

1. Ellen Haraway was one of the founders of Connect Perfusion. Now retired, she developed a deep passion for her work over the years, inspired by the people she worked with.

“Our team has always been a family to me from the decades long relationships with special surgeons to the great professionals we work with. The people are what have made a difference, and the people who work with Connect care for each other, and they’re great people worth caring for.”

2. Over his 4.5 years as a clinical perfusionist at Connect, Jared Weaver has found fulfillment in his role because each case brings a new challenge.

“In my background in healthcare, I was very limited in my scope of practice. I like working as a perfusionist because I don’t feel like an afterthought. I’m an essential part of the surgery team, and it’s very rewarding. The other thing I like is that every day is different. I may be doing something familiar, but it isn’t the same.”

3. Jayson Powell, co-owner of Connect Perfusion, thrives in his role thanks to the unwavering support of his team.

“The connect team is special to work with because we work so well together. Everybody helps each other out. You’re never left alone to fend for yourself.”

5. One of Kara Brown’s favorite aspects of being chief manager and co-owner of Connect Perfusion is the flexibility of her daily schedule.

“A typical day for me is usually getting to the hospital around 7 a.m. Our cases start at 7:30 a.m. We build a pump, set up the room, and usually do one, maybe two, cases a day. We’re usually done mid-afternoon, and some days I don’t actually have to go to the hospital at all. We only go in when we’re needed which is great!”

6. Diane Selby came to Memphis to begin her career with Connect Perfusion and has enjoyed both the city and her work ever since.

“Memphis is full of history and character, and there are so many fun things to do, from the vibrant nightlife to the family-friendly events.”

If you’re considering a career with Connect Perfusion, know that you’re joining a team where your role truly matters. We value every individual for the contributions they bring, and the sense of camaraderie and support is unmatched.

Our perfusionists love what they do because they’re part of something bigger—a family of professionals working together for a common goal.
